Westport, N.Y. – The Depot Theatre, a not-for-profit organization committed to providing professional theatrical arts in the Adirondacks, has recently been awarded three grants to help prepare artist housing for year-round use.
In recent weeks, the Depot received a $2,000 grant from the Cloudsplitter Foundation, a $2,000 grant from J.M. McDonald Foundation, Inc., and a $2,000 grant from the Glenn and Carol Pearsall Adirondack Foundation.
These grant awards will be used to upgrade HVAC systems in the Depot’s facilities, allowing the organization the flexibility to expand programming into the winter months.
“We’re grateful for the vote of confidence in the form of financial support from these respected foundations,” said Amy McNamara, president of the theatre’s Board of Trustees. “Having facilities that can be used year-round ultimately provides increased opportunities for us to have a positive impact on the quality of life of our community through increased cultural and economic activities.”

The Cloudsplitter Foundation is dedicated to improving the future for the flora, fauna, communities, and people of the Adirondacks. Over 70% of the grants made by the Cloudsplitter Foundation go to improve the environment, economies, and lives of the the people in the Adirondacks. The primary purpose of the Cloudsplitter Foundation is to improve the environment, both physical and cultural, in the Adirondacks and to make life easier, healthier, and more rewarding for the people who live there. In the spring of 1952, J.M. McDonald established the J.M. McDonald Foundation, Inc. This is a trust whose income is to be used as donations to deserving charities. The Glenn and Carol Pearsall Adirondack Foundation was founded in December, 2000, with the aim of improving the quality of life for year-round residents of the Adirondacks. The first funding cycle began with just 7 grants, totaling $10,000, and since then the value of our portfolio has seen growth through annual founder contributions and investment returns. This has enabled the Foundation to increase giving almost every year. In 2017, the Foundation awarded 36 grants. Since the Foundation was established, 402 grants have now been awarded to area not-for-profits, totaling over $653,000.
