Cast announced for Depot Theatre’s THE WORLD GOES ‘ROUND

(L-R) Lauren Gemelli, Dan Bob Higgins, Michael Indeglio, Megan Koumis, and Zoie Morris.

Westport, N.Y. – The Depot Theatre is pleased to announce the cast for THE WORLD GOES ‘ROUND, the first of the theatre’s 2019 season main stage lineup.

THE WORLD GOES ‘ROUND is a clever collage of songs from CABARET, CHICAGO and more by the Tony Award-winning team of John Kander and John Ebb.

The nonstop hit-parade features five individuals singing unforgettable gems, including “Mr. Cellophane,” “Maybe This Time,” “Cabaret” and “New York, New York,” seamlessly interwoven into a passionate, harmonious, up-tempo evening of musical theatre.

“We’ve cast the best of the best for this show, with five extremely talented performers, one of whom has performed some of this show’s material on the national tour of Chicago,” said Depot Theatre Producing Artistic Director Kenney Green. “Every one of these artists is a seasoned veteran, and they are all making their Depot debut. Our audiences are in for a real treat!”

Lauren Gemelli’s New York City experience includes City Opera’s CANDIDE, national tours of THE DROWSY CHAPERONE, CHICAGO: THE MUSICAL, 42nd STREET, and a long list of regional theatre roles at Arena Stage, Trinity Rep Theatre by the Sea, and Reagle Music Theatre of Greater Boston.

Dan Bob Higgins’s previous credits include: WEST SIDE STORY tour, ELF THE MUSICAL tour, CHASING RAINBOWS: THE ROAD TO OZ (world premier), and other productions at MSMT, Ogunquit Playhouse, Goodspeed Opera House, and Beef and Boards Dinner Theatre.

Michael Indeglio’s resume features tours of TITANIC, MAME, and FOREVER PLAID, with favorite regional roles as Jon in TICK TICK…BOOM, Jaime in THE LAST FIVE YEARS, Seymour in LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS, and IN MY BODY.  He is also a current member of the Jersey Tenors.

Megan Koumis was last seen in the Off-Broadway show MADE IN AMERICA at The Public Theatre in New York City. Her regional credits include: EVITA, JEKYLL AND HYDE, GODSPELL, JOSEPH AND THE TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT, XANADU, and GUYS AND DOLLS. Television credits include: THE DEUCE, on HBO and a commercial for RealSleep by RealSimple.

Zoie Morris is originally from Norfolk, VA. Her Broadway/national tour credits include: RAGTIME and THE SCARLET PIMPERNEL (national tour). Off-Broadway credits include: HARLEM SONG RADIO CITY CHRISTMAS SPECTACULAR. Favorite regional theatre credits include: ONCE ON THIS ISLAND, CAMELOT, SMOKEY JOE’S CAFE, RAGTIME, and THE WIZ. Zoie has been filming THE GOOD FIGHT TV series for the past 2 years.

“I selected this production in part because it features some of the greatest collective work from bigger Kander and Ebb productions that the Depot doesn’t have the capacity to produce individually,” said Green. “THE WORLD GOES ‘ROUND packages the best of their songbook into a stunning musical production that our audiences will love.”

THE WORLD GOES ‘ROUND is sponsored by The Galley Restaurant and Bar at Westport Marina. Performances run June 29-July 14, with a $20 preview on June 28.

HEAVENLY MIX OF MUSIC AND COMEDY HEADLINE DEPOT THEATRE’s 41st SEASON

Westport, N.Y. —The Depot Theatre in Westport on Lake Champlain is pleased to announce its highly entertaining 2019 main stage season, which includes a revue of best-known musicals, a heavenly, hilarious play and a fan favorite musical featuring a 50s-era boy band.

The lineup is the first chosen by the Depot’s new Producing Artistic Director, Kenney Green. “I’ve been drawn to these shows for my inaugural season based on one word and one word alone…HUMANITY,” said Green. “Most theatre connects us through our common bond as simple folk navigating our way through life. These three shows make that connection through extreme comedy, high energy and heart-warming storytelling. I’m certain that our audiences will enjoy quite a ride this summer!”

The season opens with THE WORLD GOES ‘ROUND with performances from June 29 – July 14, with a $20 Preview on June 28. This musical review is a clever collage from the songbook of the multi-Tony award-winning team of John Kander and Fred Ebb. The songs are pulled from their best-known musicals, Cabaret and Chicago, and lesser remembered ones such as The Act and Woman of the Year, as well as the films New York, New York and Funny Lady.

The show features five artists singing unforgettable gems, including “Mr. Cellophane,” “My Coloring Book,” “All That Jazz,” “Kiss of the Spider Woman,” “Money, Money,” “Maybe This Time,” “Cabaret” and “New York, New York,” seamlessly interwoven into a passionate, harmonious, up-tempo evening of musical theatre.

The season ramps up with the hilarious play AN ACT OF GOD, in which after many millennia, God (assisted by devoted angels) will reveal the mysteries of the Bible and answer some of the greatest existential questions that plague mankind.

Filled with maximum humor and earthy reality, AN ACT OF GOD is based on a satirical book and the Twitter account of David Javerbaum, who has written for some of today’s hottest comedians, including Jon Stewart.  Performances will be July 20 – August 4, with a $20 Preview on July 19.

A delightful musical revue set in the 50s, FOREVER PLAID rounds out the season, telling the tale of four childhood friends who, after paying their dues performing at grocery store grand openings have an opportunity to do a real gig.

Previously performed at the Depot in 1996, the popular musical includes a long list of 50s favorites in tight harmony, including: “Three Coins in the Fountain”; “Undecided”; “Gotta Be This or That”; “Moments to Remember”; “Crazy ‘Bout Ya, Baby”; “No, Not Much”; “Sixteen Tons”; “Chain Gang”; “Perfidia”; “Cry”; “Heart and Soul”; “Lady of Spain”; “Scotland the Brave”; “Shangri-La”; “Rags to Riches”; and “Love is a Many-Splendored Thing”. Performances will be from August 10-25, with a $20 Preview on August 9.
