You’ve heard of Black Friday, right? What about Cyber Monday? Or Small Business Saturday? Those are all dedicated shopping days that follow the annual day of thankfulness, Thanksgiving. Well, we’d like to tell you about another day more like the last one: #GivingTuesday!
Observed on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving (this year that’s December 1st), #GivingTuesday is a movement that celebrates and supports giving & philanthropy and kicks off the charitable season. Now in its fourth year, #GivingTuesday has become a global day of giving powered by social media and collaboration.
“On Tuesday, December 1, 2015, charities, families, businesses, community centers, and students around the world will come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give. It’s a simple idea. Just find a way for your family, your community, your company or your organization to come together to give something more. Then tell everyone you can about how you are giving. Join us and be a part of a global celebration of a new tradition of generosity.” (www.givingtuesday.org)
The Depot Theatre will be showing support for #GivingTuesday by participating in an awareness campaign to help spread the word. We will be collecting photos of people holding a sign in support of #GivingTuesday (see examples at the bottom of this article) and sharing them across our social media channels and on our website.

We hope you’ll join in! Download our #GivingTuesday sign. Once you have then sign, then take a selfie or a photo of your friends/family holding it and share the photo on social media along with some words in support of giving back. Don’t forget to use the hashtag #GivingTuesday and #DepotTheatre so we can find it!
