I am writing this blog and listening to the joyous strains of bluegrass coming from inside the Depot Theatre. CARELESS LOVE has opened and our 2012 season is happening!
The opening night performance went off without a hitch (if you don't mind a record four trains coming through!). The crowd was clapping along and afterward everyone got to continue to enjoy our uber-talented musician-actors performing more songs in the lobby while we held our opening night reception. It almost feels like cheating when I sit and watch the show because I can't help myself from tapping my foot and nodding my head along to the music!
When you see CARELESS LOVE, you're sure to be impressed with actor Brian Gunter, who is the first presenter in our Tonight Only series this summer. Brian will be exploring T.S. Eliot's influential poem, Four Quartets. We've practically doubled the number of Tonight Only shows this summer, so buying a Tonight Only subscription is an even better deal than before. Plus, don't forget Bingo for the Depot! In July, it'll be on a Tuesday from 5-7pm at the Heritage House. Only $5 for your first card and entry. And there will be gift baskets and cash prizes!
And I can hardly believe it but HOUND OF THE BASKERVILLES won't be too far behind, opening on Friday, July 13! Start doing ab exercises now, because your belly will be aching from laughing so hard at this one.
I feel like I've been on a long road to get to this CARELESS LOVE Opening Night, even though I've only been here in Westport for a short time. Thank you to all of the board members, volunteers, and more who have helped me get us to here. But of course, especially Ms. Depot herself, Shami McCormick, whose love of theatre touches every person that passes through this train station.
